Professional services in Marlborough

WK's Blenheim team describes accounting and advisory work for businesses in viticulture, farming, aquaculture and trades.1 That mix makes a generic vineyard cash-flow explanation or contractor engagement letter a useful teaching example. The exercise is not advice for a named business: we use invented inputs and ask staff to identify the questions a responsible adviser would raise.

Our Claude sessions emphasise document structure and careful revision. A Project can carry reference files and instructions, and an artifact can hold the developing output beside the chat.5,6 Participants practise asking for an evidence table before prose. They then learn to spot an unsupported inference that fluent writing might otherwise conceal.

Paid employees in professional services went from 2,810 in February 2020 to 2,559 in February 2025 (−8.9%).

Where Claude helps professional services teams

  • Build an advice draft around its assumptions

For a fictional vineyard business, put an approved report outline and a sanitised management note in a Project. Request an assumptions register before the narrative. Project knowledge gives Claude the chosen context.5 Ask the reviewer to distinguish supplied facts from suggestions. An omitted assumption should trigger a question to the adviser, not a guessed recommendation.

    • Accounting or business advisory manager
    • Projects
  • Compare a long document with the brief

Use an invented lease or service agreement alongside a staff-written checklist. Ask Claude to identify relevant passages and list requirements that the supplied text does not resolve. The Project holds those references.5 The practitioner reads each passage in context and decides its significance. The output is a review aid, never a substitute for legal interpretation.

    • Document reviewer
    • Long documents in Projects
  • Turn technical material into a client explanation

Create an artifact that explains a fictional laboratory report to a business audience. Artifacts can contain editable documents.6 Specify which terms must remain unchanged and where uncertainty belongs. Compare the explanation with the source, then ask a technical colleague whether the simpler wording overstates a finding or removes a limitation the reader needs.

    • Research or technical consultant
    • Artifacts for report drafting
  • Develop an internal review checklist

Ask for an artifact containing a checklist for accepting a new engagement, using only the firm's approved headings.6 Test it with cases where the scope is unclear or the responsible reviewer is missing. Treat the artifact as a draft for the practice manager to assess. Store the accepted process with its owner and review history.

    • Practice operations lead
    • Interactive artifacts
  • Check a small reporting helper in code

A technical team can use Claude Code on a separate practice repository to inspect a fictional CSV importer. Anthropic documents repository work with this tool.7 Require the developer to review changed files and run meaningful checks for blank fields and duplicated records. Use synthetic data throughout, and keep client production systems outside this learning exercise.

Review the reasoning before the client-facing words

  1. Give the exercise a fictional client brief and a clearly bounded reference set.
  2. Request a table linking each proposed claim to its evidence or stated assumption.
  3. Have the responsible practitioner correct that table before editing the final draft.

Professional services in Marlborough: questions

Does this suit a mixed advisory practice?

Choose separate exercises for accounting, technical reporting and document review. Staff can share checking habits while retaining the judgement and terminology their own discipline requires.

What if we cannot bring any client material?

Blank report structures and a fictional business brief are sufficient. We can deliberately insert conflicting assumptions so the team practises detecting a problem rather than exposing a real engagement.

Should every adviser learn Claude Code?

Developer work belongs with staff who can assess and maintain code.7 Most advisers can focus on Project references, revision and artifacts without taking responsibility for a software repository.

Can our Blenheim office host the training?

TheColab can deliver the workshop at your premises. Scope the document examples with the practice lead beforehand; public workshop days offer another route for staff who need an introductory session.
